ABOUT:
Mark Kinnaman was born in Kansas, where he began his career as a photographer. After building a darkroom in his home to process and print the film he was shooting, he became the head photographer for his high school yearbook. After high school he attended Kansas State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Food Science. Driven by a desire to return to photography, after an extended hiatus, he enrolled at Texas A&M University-Commerce, Commerce, TX where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts-Studio Arts (Photography) in 2016.
As a student, Kinnaman’s work has been exhibited in a variety of venues. Among the more noteworthy exhibitions includes the Annual Student Art Show at Brookhaven College in Dallas, TX, the documentary exhibit at the University Center-Dallas and the University Gallery at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
More recently, in recognition of his excellent academic record and previous photographic work, Kinnaman concluded a multi-month Independent Study project. The project, which he developed in collaboration with various faculty members at Texas A&M University-Commerce, Commerce, TX, explores the interactions between people and nature in the Trans-Pecos region of west Texas.
A limited sampling of the work will be on display in the University Gallery at Texas A&M University-Commerce, beginning May 9, 2016. As for his future plans, he will soon commence a project in the Ozarks of Missouri, where he will take up residence in June of 2016.
For now, Kinnaman works and resides in Dallas, Texas where he is passionately pursuing his art as a photographer.
